FBI enforces Rep Standards

News >>

Chairman of Football Bundaberg advised all at the beginning of the 2007 Rep Season that there would be many changes for Reps in 2007 and onwards. The FBI Board has come under increasing criticism over the past few years at the apparent poor manner the Represenatives were being run. Things like poor communication, lack of discipline, less than acceptable Coaching, poor Rep selection and so on. Something needed to be done.

2007 has seen a raft of changes occuring with appointment of a new Player Development Chairperson (the Committee that handles Reps on behalf of the CA) only to see him replaced within a couple of weeks apparently due to not acceptable performance. He was replaced by well respected Coach and Referee Noel Stitt. This was a coup for the CA in gaining someone of Stitt's callibre. Dress codes have been beefed up with Players and Coaches being consistently advised to shape up or risk shipping out, the first causality in this area occured at the recent Maryborough games where an U18 Player decided to turn up to the Maryborough Grounds representing his City in thongs. CA Chairman Greg Bath suspended him the following day.

A new Administrator for Reps has also been appointed, Sue Smith, Sue is a very capable Executive Assistant that brings the much needed Communication touch to this area of the CA. Once Stitt and Smith with the rest of their team start to put the touches to the Reps we will certainly see a far more Professional unit than what has been at Football Bundaberg for many, many years.

It will be tough going for some but in the end the very expensive CA Rep program will pay better Player results thus giving us better Football Players in this Elite area. Dont forget that the CA subsidises each FBI Rep Player to the tune of around $100 plus hence it is time to ensure that we expend this large sum of money wisely and effectively. The changes will not really have the best effect until 2008 and 2009, lets hope the dedicated Team sticks it out until we can see the effects happening. Something to always remember, these hard working people are Volunteers!
